Good news for British N Gauge

Kato is arguably the world’s premier N gauge model railway manufacturer

And Kato seem to be planning an assault on the UK market. Announced by them last week was a N Gauge model of the Class 800

The plan is for the set to be released in 2021 when Hornby’s exclusivity period on the model runs out. It will be released under their new branding “Kato British Railways”

Certainly the new branding has left modelers hoping that this new announcement is just the tip of the iceberg. A serious attempt at the British market by one of the worlds premier manufacturers can only be a good thing.

What is clear is that the will have plenty of liveries to chose from on the Class 800 series trains. They can be seen this year in the following colour schemes
– GWR
– LNER Azuma
– First Hull Trains
-Trans Pennine Express

And I’m sure in time plenty more ‘celebrity’ liveries will come out.

More details are expected on the launch and their plans when Kato attend The International N Gauge Shows on 14th/15th Sepetember. I for one will be there and am excited to hear more!
