Excitement Abounds As Dapol Class 50s Arrive

Mr Cottingfield will hopefully be gettings his hands on his next week. Early reviews say that it is another good quality model from Dapol much in the same vein as the class 68. That model marked a step change in quality for the manufacturer headquartered in Wales.

Completely out of area mine was very much a rule one purchase. I have long been a fan of the class 50, and one my earliest memories of railways is them.

Back when I was just small I have a vivid memory of 50027 Lion. It was steaming out of Waterloo on a service to Exeter. You could just see smoke and clag everywhere. Consequently the NSE livery was a must have.

Also I remember a year or two later the class being on a number of railtours in the final years. 50007 in it’s green Sir Edward Elgar livery as Aylesbury was one. Possibly top and tail with a large logo variant? Although I might be mistaken as I was only about 8 or 10 at the time.

Other Liveries?

There’s plenty of options to tempt me. I might well be able to find a home for one in Large Logo. Equally the limited edition in Civil Engineers Dutch livery from DCC Supplies could be another impulse purchase.

Could this be my first adventure into DCC Sound? I’m sure many out there would agree it would be a great choice.
